The Ballard Independent is a 238-unit residential development in Seattle, Washington for Holland Partner Group. The design brief called for a "Pacific Northwest Industrial" aesthetic — a regional identity distinct from the Southern California projects I typically work within.
Managing this project entirely from our Los Angeles studio was the central challenge. I led the full design cycle for the model residence, developing a research-backed material palette of industrial textures and bold colors specifically calibrated for the Seattle market and its demographic. On the technical side, I engineered the building's main reception station in AutoCAD — resolving integrated technology, hidden storage, and cable management within a single cohesive millwork piece.
When the project timeline suddenly accelerated by one month, I coordinated non-local vendors remotely, managing site-specific installation details and delivery logistics without the ability to be on-site — a constraint that required unusually precise documentation and communication.
